0 DIY Natural Hair Deep Conditioner

Deep conditioning is optional and the need for it varies depending on how often you manipulate and handle your natural hair. If you use heat frequently, deep conditioning your often may be the key to maintaining healthy hair without heat damage. Also, if you protective style often using styles that don't allow you to fully moisturize your hair. This is especially true for those that use synthetic hair or weaves in their protective styles.

Now, what exactly is deep conditioning? Deep conditioning is when you apply a rinse out product or products to your hair that will penetrate the hair shaft and give your hair a boost of moisture or much needed protein. Think of it as a "red bull" for your hair. These treatments give your hair extra minerals and nutrients to help your hair remain strong. These treatments as I said are especially important for those who put a lot of stress on their tresses.

Here is a DIY Natural Hair Deep Conditioner Recipe, I use and you can try it as well.

3 Tablespoons of conditioner
2 Tablespoons Molasses (benefits of molasses)
2 Tablespoons Honey (Using Honey)
1 Tablespoon Wheatgerm Oil

Mix well and apply to whole head. I use a plastic bag/cap and then a shirt as heat (body heat). You can sit under the dryer. I wouldn't advise sleeping with this mixture due to the dark brown color and it may stain your pillow.

After applied and then with plastic cap- t-shirt situation:

You can add more to this Deep Conditioner or use as is. Be sure not to use any ingredients that are sealants, you want as much of this treatment to penetrate the hair shaft as possible. To keep this mix from being too runny, you can always add more conditioner to thicken the mix up. I use this mix in the place of my rinse out conditioner, so after I rinse it out, I move on to detangling and styling. I rinse the conditioner out while my hair is still twisted.

After rinsing the Deep Conditioner Out:

This deep conditioner is the bomb.com I'm telling you! It leaves my hair soft, shiny and strong! I love it! Here are some pics of my shed hair for a comparison as well.

Left: Normal weekly detangling session. Hair was just detangled 7 days prior.
Right: Detangling session done AFTER deep conditioning on hair that had not been detangled in over 2 weeks! I loss more hair in the 1 week than the 2 weeks!

Try the deep conditioner out and let me know how it works for you! I love it and I hope you will too!

This is my hair after detangling (which was a breeze) and re-twisting for a twist out and placing the twists in a bun. Check the shine!

Thanks for reading! Be sure to check back for the twist out results!

Do you deep condition? If so, how often and what do you use? Questions? Leave them in the comment box!

Thanks!
