0 DIY Skin Care- Salt and Sugar Scrub Recipes

With warm weather fast approaching it's time to get your feet sandal ready with a homemade salt scrub or sugar scrub. If you live in a hot humid climate, you know how sweaty it can get in the summer time and even after taking a bath you may still feel "not so clean". Exfoliating and scrubbing away the dead skin is the answer for smooth soft skin and a sparkling clean body.

There are literally hundreds of Sugar and Salt Scrub Recipes online! You can add whatever essential oils, fragrance oils, herbs, salts or sugars you like!

Here are a few recipes you can try:

No Mess Body Scrub Recipe
This scrub remains solid in the jar and in your hands but melts as you scrub your body. No need
to mix in the jar everytime you use it.

2 cups epsom salt
1/2 cup turbinado sugar
1/2 cup solid coconut oil
1 tablespoon deodorized cocoa butter
1 1/2 tbsp sweet almond oil or fractionated coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon glycerin
1/8 tsp of T50 vitamin E oil
20-30 drops of fragrance

Instructions:
Mix the salt and sugar together in a bowl. Add half the fragrance oil to salt and sugar mixture and mix
thoroughly. Incorporate wet and dry ingredients, adding more epsom or oil as necessary.
Incorprate all the oils together and melt in a bain marie only until almost completely melted, remove from heat and then stir until completely melted. You should be able to stick your finger in the mixture without burning yourself. When the oils are comfortable to touch add the rest of the fragrance mixture to it. Incorporate wet and dry ingredients, adding more epsom or oil as necessary. Package into jars and let them cool.

For sensitive skin a sugar scrub may be gentler. Salt scrubs help relax the muscles and pull toxins out of the body. Both exfoliate great so either one is a great choice!

*DIY Hair Care Products will be offering both a sugar and a salt scrub both scented and unscented (for you to add your own essential oils and fragrance-DIY) starting May 1st!
