Welcome Maggie from The Clueless Curl
The Clueless Curl is about a: Journey to an eco-friendly lifestyle and everything in between. (from the site)
DIYHCB: How long have you been natural? What made you decide to go natural?
TCC: The summer of 2009 was when I took the plunge to embrace my natural hair. Like most growing up I had no choice but to get a relaxer, it was the norm growing up. It wasn't until I had a bad experience I started looking into going natural. One such experience was when my hair was braided very tightly. I was in pain for days and I did nothing about it because I was more concerned about my new do'. It was the last straw for me and I started looking into going natural. It was time for me to nurse it back to health from all the damage done. Beauty shouldn't have to be painful.
DIYHCB: What do you like most about having curly/ kinky hair?
TCC: I know it sounds cliche but, the versatilty. Who knew!?!!
DIYHCB: What are some challenges you face with your natural hair?
TCC: OMG!!! The natural hair lingo when I first started my journey. I was like english please english. Another, would be learining to get the styles right, what products to use. It took alot of trail and error and practice, practice, practice to get it right. I wanted to learn how to flat twist and I went on youtube. I learned to flat twist after several practices and now I can do it with my eyes closed. ;)
DIYHCB: Here at the DIY Hair Care blog, we like to DIY, so tell us, are there any products you make yourself? Any DIY Hair styles, etc?
TCC: Yes, I'm a huge fan of DIY. I do make my own henna gloss it consists of conditioner, honey, coconut oil, and green tea. I also make my own moisturizing spritz made with veggie glycerin, water, peppermint oil, and rosemary oil.
DIYHCB: What are some products you love?
TCC: Right now, I'm loving Oyin Handmade. I picked it up when I went to the hair show in Baltimore. Coconut oil is another favorite.
DIYHCB: What does your regimen consist of? Is it simple or complex? Are you consistent?
TCC: I'm all about simplicity and I'm consistent with my regimen.
*Dry deep condition every two weeks(I started this in April and my hair responded well)
*Co-wash every two weeks
*Henna or Pre-Poo once a month
*I use the honeyhemp as my leave-in I then flat twist my hair and let it air dry
*I oil my scalp when needed with a viamin E oil mixture
DIYHCB: What is the most you would pay for a hair care product?
TCC: I'm a recovering PJ [product junkie] so I won't let my hair budget be more than my utility bill, lol. No more than $10 maximum $20
DIYHCB: Where can we find you on the web?
