0 B academy backstage in Milaan en Parijs

Bestond het team van B academy vorig seizoen uit Andy Uffels en Ilham Mestour, dit seizoen was B met vijf man sterk backstage vertegenwoordigd in Parijs en Milaan tijdens de internationale fashion weken.

Voor Floor Kleyne, Estella van Oers en Rachel Geerman - nu ook onderdeel van het haarteam van wereldberoemde Chef de Cabine Luigi Murenu - was het een inspirerende ervaring. Ze creëerden backstage met Andy en Ilham kapsels voor de shows van Gucci, Max Mara, Givenchy, Emilio Pucci, Gianfranco Ferre, Chloe, Ferragamo, Viktor&Rolf, Rick Owens, No.21 en Hakaan.

Ilham Mestour, creative director B academy, vertelt over de veel gespotte looks op de catwalk: “De lage zijscheiding is iets wat we bij veel shows hebben gezien. Dit is echt terug van weggeweest. Ook het chignon (knotje) was niet van de catwalk weg te denken. Als je deze twee trends met elkaar combineert krijg je een simpele, maar very glamorous hairdo. Helemaal Gucci! En het leuke is dat je deze look heel makkelijk zelf kunt maken.”

0 CAO Kappers

CNV Kappers en Anko hebben een onderhandelingsresultaat bereikt over een nieuwe cao. Er is onder meer afgesproken dat de lonen per 1 januari 2011 met 1 procent zullen stijgen.

Een aantal hoofdpunten uit het resultaat op een rij.

• Feitelijk gaan de lonen per 1 januari 2011 met 1 procent omhoog.
• Looptijd van de cao: 1 juli 2010 tot en met 30 juni 2011.
• Iedere werknemer krijgt in 2011 een budget van € 150,- dat gebruikt kan worden voor vaktechnische opleidingen en cursussen, vakinhoudelijke congressen en beurzen.
• Iedere werknemer die tenminste drie jaar in de bedrijfstak werkt, krijgt de mogelijkheid een individuele loopbaancheck uit te laten voeren. Met zo’n loopbaan-check kun je uitzoeken welke vervolgstappen je kunt zetten om verder te komen binnen de kappersbranche, maar ook of een baan buiten de branche misschien niet beter bij je past. Binnenkort ontvangen de leden van CNV Kappers meer informatie hierover.
• Ook de reiskosten voor de OV-chicard worden vergoed.

0 My definition of natural hair

There has been a bit of chatter...well there has ALWAYS been chatter in the natural hair community about what it truly means to be or go natural.

What does being natural or natural hair mean, to me?

It simply means, I do not have a relaxer in my hair. Simple as that.

What is not natural, to me?

Relaxed, texlaxed, texturized, anything that someone does to their hair to relax the curl. I don't care if it only relaxes the curl for 2 days and then you wash it out, while your hair has that chemical in it, it isn't natural to me. Like the Brazilian Keratin Treatment.

Hair color? I don't even care. Eat junk food? I don't care. As long as the hair on your head is in it's natural curly state, the way it grew out of your head without any chemicals added to it, you have natural hair in my eyes.

0 Authentic African Shea Butter, Is Your Shea Butter Authentic?

I love shea butter (or what I thought was shea butter). I use it on my hair daily and guess what? What I was using was not African shea butter! Nope!! I don't really know what I am using as it just says shea butter but, it doesn't match what I was reading about African shea butter. I am so through with companies stealing and lying...I don't have money to waste!!

The "shea butter" I was getting is deep yellow and very grainy. It is also greasy/oily. I will not be purchasing shea butter from RA Cosmetics again. I don't know what this "butter" is exactly, it could be shea, it could be palm oil, heck I don't know... It did give me some nice twist-outs and whatnot tho...

I will be ordering some REAL shea butter soon and I will let ya'll know how it turns out!

0 Girl's Generation fashion in new album Hoot

Korean very popular Girl Group "Girl's Generation" released their new album "Hoot" with a very unique style. The nine member K-pop group girls drew inspiration from retro fashion for the album concept. The members portray themselves as Bond girls in the album photos.

"Hoot" is Girls Generation's third mini-album after "Gee" and "Genie," both of which were released in 2009.

The album contains five songs: "Hoot," "Wake Up," "My Best Friend," "Mistake" and "Snowy Wish."

Like before, the new album of Girl's Generation always followed by their new fashion and style. Therefore, their fashion is also gaining a lot of attention as well as their new songs.

The new album themes is a 1970 retro spy girl look. This theme is totally different with Girl’s Generation previous album “Run Devil Run“. But what ever themes, the girls always look so skinny and adorable..

Finally, the wait is over, and Taeyeon, Tiffany, Jessica, Hyeyeon, Yuri, Yoona, Seohyun, Sooyoung and Sunny all are so amazing in their new album Hoot.

0 New defining cream recipe- with pics!

Recipe (got some of it offline some of it from my mind...etc.)


In a large bowl mix:
8oz shea butter (you can do a little bit more or less)
4 tablespoons of aloe vera gel
2 tablespoons castor oil
2 tablespoons coconut oil (my coconut oil was in a solid state)
1 tablespoon of oil of preference (I used a body oil blend that had jojoba, almond oil, etc)

Mix with a hand held mixer until mixture becomes creamy and fluffy. Add more aloe vera if the consistency isn't thick as you want it. The aloe vera is the defining product, if you don't use enough you won't get a nice hold. The aloe vera also cuts some of the oiliness of the oils and shea butter (IMO). Make sure you don't add too much oil because shea butter is "greasy" enough on it's own.

Store in a Tupperware type container in cool dry place and use as necessary.

Remember, this is not a moisturizer! This is a sealant/ styling agent. It works best on damp hair or after a water-based leave-in has already been applied to the hair.

My braid-outs have never been defined but, since I have been using this cream they have been defined and soft. :)
